Part-Time Bookkeeper

The Morrisville Food Co-op (MoCo) is looking for a part-time experienced Bookkeeper to assist in managing our day-to-day accounting and finance requirements. Confidentiality, excellent organizational skills and accuracy are important qualifications for this position, as well as good customer relations and the ability to communicate clearly. The ideal candidate for this position is a skilled multi-tasker, is reliable and is committed to consistently meeting deadlines.

Responsibilities:

  • Balance and maintain accurate accounts

  • Take charge of accounts payable, entering invoices using the coop’s Point of Sale (POS) software

  • Pay vendor invoices and track bank account balances

  • Reconcile bank accounts as well as cash for deposit and credit clearing accounts

  • Process bi-weekly payroll, and performing year end reporting

  • Analyze monthly financial statements, including cash flow, profit and loss statements and balance sheets, making adjustments as necessary

  • Prepare quarterly and monthly tax returns, along with payroll, and sales taxes

  • Assist with annual budget development

  • Prepare books for year-end prior to yearly audit

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Degree in Accounting or related field desirable

  • Two years’ experience working in accounts payable, general ledger and payroll

  • Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles

  • Extensive experience with data entry, record keeping and computer operation

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel and QuickBooks

  • Knowledge of POS software an asset

  • Good team worker

Job Type: Part-time - approximately 15 hours/week

Salary: $15.00 /hour
